Hey Y’all.
Asian Thunder want to pay his respects to Chocolate Thunder aka Darryl Dawkins and Spud Webb, two of Pony’s Iconic, legendary all-time greats. Darryl Dawkin’s larger-than-life personality was on full display as he recently appeared at the Macy Herald’s Square Foot Locker in the Big apple. Signing photos, memorabilia and his limited edition signature Pony Uptowns, Choc Thunder looked like he could lace up today and throw down some of rim rattling dunks.
Spud Webb, the shortest player every to win the Slam dunk contest was recently back in Atlanta. At 5’ 6’, Spud defied gravity with his 46” vertical and creative style. Wowed fans lined up to take photos, get autographs and a glimpse of his limited edition signature Pony City Wings Lo - made to the exact specs as the original Pony’s he wore back in the day.
Good to see you guys - and thanks for the memories.

Hey Pony Peeps!
AsianThunder here (aka marketing dude). Wanted to share some cool stuff with you guys. Check out our new tv spots - Pony’s first in nearly 15 years. Hopefully, you laugh at the right moments. Heck hopefully you will just laugh. Pony is trying to keep it real and we want you to know that we are back - and we are here to compete with the Big 3 again in the athletic shoe market. We also want you to realize it’s just shoes, not life and death so we wanted to have some fun and poke some fun at some of the most recognized TV spots created over the last couple years. Check em out - and let me know what you think.
Our spots were shot in a sound stage in LA over the course of 12 hours. JAY BRANTLEY: Jay (’Boogie’) and DOUG TAIT started off the day warming up and showing off some serious hoops skiills. Jay Boogies’s handles were off the hook. I tried to show off my own skills and Jay Boogie was impressed. I think he was being kind. Doug Tait was quite the trooper as we dumped over 300 paris of shoes on his head. That was not special effects. And we did more than one take. He had hair when we started.
Willie Warren, our football guy, actually played for the University of Miami Hurricanes as a D1 wide reciever. He worked up quite a sweat as we put him thru 4 hours of running, jumping, catching balls, taking Pony shoes to face. Yours truly, AsianThunder, even had the chance to catch a few balls from the Jugs machine himself. Way cool.
The day finally ended with ADAMO PALLADINO, our soccer guy writing “determination” on a glass backboard for about 2 hours. Who said making tv commericals isn’t exciting and glamorous. These spots will air on stations like Fox Sports, ESPN, MTV, BET, VH-1, TNT, FX, Spike, MSG just to name a few in March/April.
Oh - and be sure to check the “making of” to see some of the fun behind the scenes activies that went on during the shoot. It’s all on PonyTV!

Pony is the old-school bringin it fresh to the new school. In SLAM this month, we got out our LE Darryl Dawkins Uptown in The Purist givin love to the best of yesterday. We also have our Vintage Top Star Mids, LE Flint Tropics representing the Kicks section.
And if you check out the Jimmy V tribute “Don’t Give Up! Don’t Ever Give Up!” you can see some Uptowns stylin on the rim in a vintage photo. Such an ill photo. The spread is dedicated to the NC State Wolfpack that pulled off an unheard-of tournament run! Pack Power! Most of the players from that team
were running the floor in Uptowns.
Oh, and not to mention, Eric Gordon is on the cover… Kid is ridiculous!

Pony met up with legendary magazine originator Tony Gervino from Antenna.
So if you’re outta the loop (no offense Ron Chev), Antenna is the next big mag for those of you who wanna be the hippest, have the newest and illest products. It’s pretty much the guidebook to what’s cool and staying fresh…that’s why we dig it! Not to mention, legendary magazine maestro Tony Gervino is always behind brilliant projects . We threw him some kicks, and now they’re posted up with all the hottest new items that you NEED to be in the game. Check ‘em out! We got the Pony/Neff Crazy Times causin’ an uproar, and we got our ballin Quix gettin’ mad love too. That’s right Pony’s makin’ a comeback, even though we were here the whole time! So get with it. “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years, rockin’ my peers and puttin’ suckas in fear…” LL Cool J said it best…
