Randy Moss was spotted on the cover of the Boston Herald’s Sports section today lacing up his new PONY MOSS 1 Mids. Look out for Moss flying through many of the NFL’s secondaries in these bad boys this season. This is a first look to the public and Randy got rave reviews from his teammates. Hey Everyone -
It’s official! Pony has signed NFL great Randy Moss! Check out the Press release below!
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS ALL-WORLD RECEIVER RANDY MOSS CHOOSES PONY INTERNATIONAL
Pony to Design Moss Signature Footwear & Apparel Line
SAN DIEGO, April 15 /PRNewswire/ — The 2007 National Football League season has seen many defenses try and fail to cover the prolific wide receiver, Randy Moss, of the New England Patriots. Pony International is confident it can cover Randy Moss from head-to-toe. Today, Pony International is excited to announce the company has agreed to an exclusive partnership to design the Randy Moss signature athletic footwear and clothing line. The first wave of Pony’s Moss branded gear will arrive in stores August 1, 2008.
“By signing a premier athlete the caliber of Randy Moss, this immediately puts the rest of the competition on notice that Pony is determined to do whatever it takes to be a player in the marketplace,” commented Pony International’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Wulff. “Pony is definitely back in the game in a big way. Not a lot of people can cover Randy Moss, but we feel we can cover him, top to bottom. The partnership with Moss allows us to supply athletes of all levels with top-notch equipment and put them on an even playing field with their competition.
“I get approached to endorse a ton of stuff each year that really doesn’t mesh with who I am or what is important in my life, this agreement with Pony lets me help to give back and help the next wave of young players coming up,” said Randy Moss, wide receiver for the New England Patriots. “I really appreciated the way Pony presented their concepts for my signature brand and wanted to make a great performance line of clothes and shoes for the serious competitor to the weekend warrior.”
The new Moss collection by Pony is a comprehensive line of performance shoes built around Randy Moss’s needs as a professional athlete on and his passions off of the field. The inspiration for the Moss 1 Molded Signature Cleat was derived from Moss’s love of Bass Fishing, which also parallels Randy’s ability to bait NFL’s defensive backs. From the design on a mackerel lure highlighted by progressively faded pattern to the carbon fiber inspired heel counter as seen on high-end fishing rods, the distinctive Moss green color used throughout the line will electrify the shoes, as Randy Moss electrifies the game. Kyle Pulli, VP of Design at Pony, sums the new line up best by saying, “The Moss Collection is a perfect example of Pony’s indisputable focus on the uncompromising performance benefits and features.” The collection spans all levels of play, including an affordable entry-level Molded Rubber Cleat.
“Pony will launch a multi-faceted, innovative, viral content driven marketing initiative,” added Pony Vice President of Marketing, Benjamin Woo. “The marketing campaign will look to utilize both traditional and non-traditional mediums to support the company’s creative messaging and build consumer awareness and excitement of the Pony Moss collection.”
Randy Moss continues to leave his mark on the NFL record books and establish himself as one of the most explosive play-makers in NFL history. Evidence of this is the now single season record of 23 touchdowns he scored in 2007, beating Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice who held the previous record. In December of 2005, this five-time Pro-Bowler became the 25th player in NFL history to surpass the 10,000 receiving yards mark, reaching the mark in his 124th career game — making him the fourth-fastest to 10,000 yards in NFL history.

Hey Pony Peeps!
AsianThunder here (aka marketing dude). Wanted to share some cool stuff with you guys. Check out our new tv spots - Pony’s first in nearly 15 years. Hopefully, you laugh at the right moments. Heck hopefully you will just laugh. Pony is trying to keep it real and we want you to know that we are back - and we are here to compete with the Big 3 again in the athletic shoe market. We also want you to realize it’s just shoes, not life and death so we wanted to have some fun and poke some fun at some of the most recognized TV spots created over the last couple years. Check em out - and let me know what you think.
Our spots were shot in a sound stage in LA over the course of 12 hours. JAY BRANTLEY: Jay (’Boogie’) and DOUG TAIT started off the day warming up and showing off some serious hoops skiills. Jay Boogies’s handles were off the hook. I tried to show off my own skills and Jay Boogie was impressed. I think he was being kind. Doug Tait was quite the trooper as we dumped over 300 paris of shoes on his head. That was not special effects. And we did more than one take. He had hair when we started.
Willie Warren, our football guy, actually played for the University of Miami Hurricanes as a D1 wide reciever. He worked up quite a sweat as we put him thru 4 hours of running, jumping, catching balls, taking Pony shoes to face. Yours truly, AsianThunder, even had the chance to catch a few balls from the Jugs machine himself. Way cool.
The day finally ended with ADAMO PALLADINO, our soccer guy writing “determination” on a glass backboard for about 2 hours. Who said making tv commericals isn’t exciting and glamorous. These spots will air on stations like Fox Sports, ESPN, MTV, BET, VH-1, TNT, FX, Spike, MSG just to name a few in March/April.
Oh - and be sure to check the “making of” to see some of the fun behind the scenes activies that went on during the shoot. It’s all on PonyTV!

They call me Ron Chev.
I think it’s because I know the Pony brands backwards and forwards. Or maybe its because I’m the anchorman of this great team. But for me personally, after many years in the trenches with many great brands - including the big 2 in the footwear industry - this is my last stop.
Not to mention my first blog. To be honest, I have never blogged before. I’m not even 100% sure what blogging is. But my team has assured me it’s perfectly legal. Heh. All jokes aside - we are really excited about this new site, and about having direct dialog with you guys. We want to share our ideas, our design thoughts, or products with you. And we want you to hear back from you. Don’t like a shoe? We want to hear why. Love a shoe? We want to hear why. Don’t feel like talking to us? No problem. We’re here if you change you mind.
You don’t get many opportunities like this. To be part of revising a once legendary - even iconic - brand. Pony is truly one of the few global athletic footwear brands that successfully outfitted world class athletes across all the major sports; everything from basketball, football, baseball and soccer, to track & field, boxing and tennis…just to name a few. I’m really excited about the rebuilding the Pony brand and bringing it back to its former glory.
If there is one thing that my many years of experience has taught me, first and foremost, you have to have great product. And that’s what we have done; starting with our latest collection. Amazing stuff. Performance, style, tradition, authenticity. But this is just the beginning. We’ve just scratched the surface. We’ve got products that are fresh and original - with a lot more to come later this year and beyond.
I’ll be the first to admit you can’t do it all by yourself. So, I’ve surrounded myself over the years with some really bright people. And then there is my staff (just kidding guys). The truth is - these guys are amazing. They make me look good. And you’ll be hearing from them over the next couple months. This dream team starts with The Magician - enough said? He has won more awards and designed more killer shoes than we can count. His ideas and designs give Pony its magic. Enter The Cobbler - who has literally been building shoes since he was a kid. He’s brings the Magicians ideas and designs to life. The Stable is our eyes and ears on the street. He keeps the brand fresh, relevant and ill. OK - I don’t really say “ill” - but The Stable does. Plus he reminds me of me when I was his age. Great product deserves great marketing - and AsianThunder delivers. AsianThunder flaunts both a killer crossover and enviable golf game. We crossed paths in a prior life while he was doing head-snap marketing in the pacific northwest. Yes - at you-know-where. 33J is our eyes-on-the-world guy - keeping tabs on what is happening internationally. He won’t tell me what 33J stands for - maybe you guys can help.
Super excited about our brand new marketing campaign set to break this week. Lot’s of work from lot’s of smart people went into it. But it’s not all work, and it’s not all serious. We aren’t afraid to have some fun because, after all its just shoes. ![]()
Finally, we are very excited about sharing some big athlete news very soon…we can’t say exactly what yet but….when we can….you guys will agree that Pony is Back in the Game. More to come soon - we are looking forward to getting to know you guys better.
